Guiding Hands Guardianship Services (GHGS) supports families navigating the transition to adulthood for individuals with developmental disabilities. We offer compassionate guidance to help parents understand the guardianship process and prepare the required court documentation.
The guardianship process can often be complex and confusing for families. While legal representation can be helpful, many families face financial barriers to obtaining an attorney. GHGS helps bridge this gap by providing educational guidance, resources, and support so families can better understand the process and move forward with confidence.
Through personalized support, educational resources, and community connections, GHGS empowers families to make informed decisions as they plan for their loved one's future.

When our children turn 18, they are legally recognized as adults. For individuals with developmental disabilities, such as Autism, Down Syndrome, or other intellectual disabilities, this transition can present challenges if they are unable to make certain important decisions independently.
Parents who have cared for and protected their children throughout their lives may suddenly lose the legal authority to make decisions related to healthcare, services, and other essential matters.
In these situations, families may need to file for guardianship in the County Surrogate's Court as part of the Superior Court of New Jersey process in order to continue supporting and protecting their loved ones.
Guiding Hands Guardianship Services helps families understand this process and prepare the documentation required by the New Jersey Superior Court to obtain guardianship.
Guiding Hands Guardianship Services offers guidance and educational support to families navigating the guardianship process in New Jersey. We help families understand court procedures and prepare the necessary documentation to apply for guardianship.
In New Jersey, parents can apply for guardianship "Pro-se", meaning they can represent themselves in court without an attorney. While this option is available, the guardianship process can be complex and require multiple forms and court procedures. GHGS helps families better understand this process and prepare the necessary documentation required by the New Jersey Superior Court.
By using our services, clients acknowledge and understand that Guiding Hands Guardianship Services is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal representation. Our role is to educate, guide, and support families throughout the guardianship process.
Our goal is to help families feel informed, prepared, and confident as they navigate this important legal process for their loved ones.
Many families who turn to Guiding Hands Guardianship Services cannot afford the high attorney fees associated with the guardianship process. These families often include single mothers, fathers, and caregivers who already carry significant financial and emotional responsibilities while supporting their loved ones with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Your support helps GHGS continue providing guidance and educational support to families going through the guardianship process. Many of the families we serve face financial hardship, and your contribution helps ensure that this vital assistance remains accessible to those who need it most.
Every donation directly supports our nonprofit organization's ability to operate effectively, expand its community outreach, and maintain the resources necessary to serve families with professionalism, compassion, and care.
Together, we can make a significant difference.
Thank you for supporting our mission.
